This small but rapidly growing, values-driven FMCG business aspired to be as forward thinking with its 'people agenda' as it was commercially. It wanted to develop and nurture a culture that prioritised continuous improvement and the wellbeing of its staff. However, hiring a full time HR leader was not yet viable but remained a priority.
Sally—Mandarin’s positivity and wellbeing champion—was brought in as their retained development expert. Sally was tasked with developing the team and embedding a fit for purpose culture. Activities included running short, high impact workshops, coaching those going through transitions in role, performing a 121 strengths assessment with each new starter, and facilitating quarterly workshops with the leadership team to focus on organisational culture and people development.
Sally quickly became regarded as a core, integral member of the team despite being an external resource. The team reported significant individual and collective benefits from the workshops and the coaching and appreciated the access to a resource that they wouldn't have expected in such a small, fast growing business. Thanks to the great work we did together, they are now well on their way to building a culture that is both high performing and caring with a strong emphasis on every employee playing to their strengths.
